Victims of Torture - World Refugee Day talk
Friday 20 June 2008
- An important lunchtime talk on Friday 20th June, World Refugee Day, given by Jackie Watson from the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture. Here is a quote from UNCHR - the UN Refugee Agency:
Today, people do not just flee persecution and war but also injustice, exclusion, environmental pressures, competition for scarce resources and all the miserable human consequences of dysfunctional states. The task facing the international community in this new environment is to find ways to unlock the potential of refugees who have so much to offer if they are given the opportunity to regain control over their lives.
- Norwich: Friends Meeting House, Upper Goat Lane, NR2 1EW, 1:00 - 1:45 PM (you're welcome to bring a packed lunch at any time from 12:15)
- Admission £2, hot drinks & biscuits included in price. Call the UNA Norwich, 01603 435790
